Friedlicher Imperialismus?

Syrien gibt sich freundlich und meint: "Wenn nötig können wir den ganzen Lebanon aufnehmen!"

Natürlich, weil dann können sie endlich die letzten Christen in dieser Region genozidial beseitigen, weshalb ich hoffe nirgendwo bei Liberalen oder sonst welchen Menschen lesen zu müssen, dass dies ein guter Vorschlag ist...
Viel iinteressanter wäre eine Multi-Staaten Lösung, in der der jetzige Lebanon in kleine Teilstaaten dividiert wird, um damit das künstliche Konstrukt das heute existiert annulliert.

Somalia and Gun Control

Of course, the Somali people are weary of allt he constant battles and conflicts in their capital city Mogadishu, but they should beware and don't foolishly give up their own self-defenses to a movement that will soon show what a Sharia means.

The first step to impose your dictatorship and your rules is to disarm the people, so they can't oppose your own well-equipped forces. And this is currently done in Mog. They should not underestimate the power of weapons in the hands of civil people. It spells liberty and independence and their decision to give up that liberty will soon hunt them...

Well, oh yes, those bleeding-heart socialist in France truly have only good in their heart when they ask for more foreign help and charity in form of money pooping on the poor. Well, the poor answer that this is nonesense, but European Elitist don't listen to the poor, because they live, well, in poor and not air conditioned huts somwhere south of Europe or so(well, even France isn't air conditioned much :D).

Guess, we have asymmetric information here...

Male fear of Dominant women?

I always wondered where the popular thinking (myth?) stemmed from, that men like women in lower positions. For example, they prefer a stewardess over a lawyer or a manager. The usual response doesn't satisfy me, that it is just about domination and fear over of a dominate woman. With education as it is today, the fear of dominant women is lower than ever and most males have been conditioned to be pussy's (reading they aren't dominant any more) anyway. So, where else stemms this thought.

And I think I have my own answer: kids.
Just imagine you have a child and the discussion with your wife comes to who will educate and care for the child and who will work. Well, usually or rather traditionally, the man would go to work and the woman would do the house work (not because woman are not good at work, I will explain later). However, today it is more pragmatism, because the person with the higher income will stay at home. Now, the time when women got less income than men is long gone and the chance that you get a wife with higher income than you is almost 50%.
So, there now comes my explanation for why we prefer women with less income. Men are unsuited (most times, except perhaps Lileks) for 24-7 childcare, we don't have the endurance to do this. So, this is inherent in our gene code and as soon as we see a women with higher income, we flinch, because we suspect in the event of child-making, we would have to stay home.
Yes, men are good at doing field trips on the weekend, but mostly we sucked at daily routine. This hasn't been erradicated by conditioning due to lack of trying.
So, our own genetic legacy tells us that a women with a lower job is the better catch, because it will give us an advantage and eliminate an inherent weakness.

So, much for male idiocy for today, don't take it too seriously you feminists out there and I will be breeding in the sun today.. so it'll all be fine :)

Tragisches und Vergessliches

Tja, aus zwei Anlässen kommen jegliche Kommentare heute erst zu spät:

(a) Deutschland : Italien 0:2 für die Leute mit dem besseen schauspielerischen Können :)

(b) Fourth of July - Independence Day und der musste gefeiert werden.

Wie man sich vielleicht denken kann, bin ich alles andere als froh über den Ausgang des Spiels, schon weil sie die Italiener aus dem Achtelfinale ins Halbfinale gemogelt haben. Auch bin ich ein wenig sauer auf die FIFA, die einen der besten deutschen Spieler, Thorsten Frings, wegen einer "Tätlichkeit" wie auch immer man das auslegen will, gesperrt hat.

Das hat nichts mit falschem Neid zu tun, sondern einfach nur mit der Tatsache, dass wenn man die Regeln schon gerecht auslegen will, dann sollte man auch endlich Schiri-Entscheidungen mit Videoanalysen unterstützen.
In dem Fall wären unsere Schummler aus dem Süden niemals so weit gekommen, da sie nur dank eines falschen Elfmeters überhaupt so weit kommen konnten.
Also, entweder alles regelgerecht oder sich so einen Scheiß einfach nicht erlauben. Es hätte ja gereicht, wenn er eine Geldstrafe bekommen hätte und eine Strafe für die Spiele nach der WM...

Naja, für heute Abend geb ich nur den Tipp:

1:2 für Frankreich eventuell erst in der Verlängerung, aber endlich müssen die foulenden Portugiesen drann glauben :D

Es hat mich ja schon geärgert, dass sie gegen eine gute Elftal gewonnen haben (per Glück und gutem Maniche), aber ins Finale dürfen sie mit dem geboltze nicht.

So und mein Gedanke zur Zukunft von Klinsmann: Ab in die USA und das amerikanische Team trainieren, vielleicht kann man dann ja auch im Soccer mal für sie sein :D

Der Hang der Vorteilsnahme in der Wissenschaft

Bisher hat man ja Dogmatismus und vor allem Konsens eher im Bereich der Religion oder der Politik und nicht in der Wissenschaft, aber diese Zeiten sind wohl jetzt vorbei.
Vor allem von der Linken hört man immer wieder die Vorwürfe gegen Wissenschaftler die entweder Global Warming oder gar den Hockey Stick als nicht real einstufen, dass diese von der Ölindustrie gefördert werden.
Auch wenn dies vielleicht bei einer Minderheit zu treffen tut (meistens dann aber auch eher Journalisten), so ist das noch kein Argument für oder gegen die Qualität der Arbeit.
Es ist ein einfacher Versuch von den Argumenten abzulenken und die Person zu reduzieren und ihr Expertentum abzusprechen.
Man könnte ja im Umkehrschluss auch sagen, dass staatliche finanzierte Forschung immer falsch ist, da sie ja nur die Doktrinen des Staates verfolgt (was bei manchen Forschungsgebieten bestimmt stimmt, aber nicht bei allen).

Steve McIntyre hat ein Paradebeispiel von versuchter Wahrheitsbeugung in der Wissenschaft, um einen "Konsens" zu behalten. Während das NAS-Paper gezeigt hat, dass der Hockey Stick wahrscheinlich so nicht richtig ist, schlägt dies alles beim Erfinder der Studie, Michael Mann, auf taube Ohren. Dieser versucht stattdessen (oder eine ihm nahestende Person) jegliche Kritik in Fachzeitschriften mit Polemik zurück zu schlagen und die Fachpresse kuscht auch noch vor ihm.

Man kann also wahrlich nicht mehr von einer objektiven Wissenschaft sprechen, sondern nur noch von einer politisierten Wahrnehmung...
Schade, das Verständnis des Klimas hätte uns bestimmt helfen können, so aber nicht...

Japanese and Muslime

At first glance, they both don't have many similarities, but that's not completely true (who guessedd! ;) ). Especially now the situation in which islamic Arabs live in the US is still in living memory amongts Japanese during WW II.
All Muslime are under a general suspection of being criminal terrorists and many an islamic Arab has faced the possibility of being sent into the ultimate detention camp: Guantanamo Bay.

Nobody know exactly how many inocent are in Gitmo and how many true terrorists are interned in this out-of-jurisdiction camp.
These people are not called POW although they are handled as if they are, albeit ignoring the correct procedures. The Japanese were also classified as POWs during WW II and sent to prison camps, which were entirely not very different from Gitmo. At least, they had the decency of interning them on American soil. The pain those (not rightly) imprisoned Japanese had to endure was never fully repaied by the federal government, but rather accepted as a plight necessary in the face of war, albeit being unjust.

Even if you were lucky not to end up in gitmo or the prison camps, the social situation of Arab Muslims in modern ignorant America is alike to the hatred against Japanese during WW II despite them having lived for decades in the US. The ignorance goes thus far that even Hindu are attacked for being terrorists, because the average US citizen often cannot distinguish between an Arab and an Indian. This clearly reminds one of the McCarthy era of witch hunting against Communists.
The Japanese had to endure the same humiliation, although they did it with the usual self-absorbed Asian style and grace. Only 60 years later the youth is speaking out about these war-time practics which clearly were an infringment of personal liberties without proper evidence.

What arose my interest into this speck of history? The spin-off product Fort Minor (from the Pop-Rock Group Linkin Park) which combines racial and social commentary with hip hop and produced this long-lost, from the memory of the populace, subject in their song "Kenji".

Amnesty International und Zielsetzungen

Das Interview der Weltwoche mit der muslimischen "CEO" von Amnesty International, Frau Kahn, ist wieder einmal gelungen. Die Frau hat wirklich gut geantwortet und sich nicht von den wie gewohnt guten und scharfen Fragen (im Gegensatz zu den Kuschelfragen bei den meisten anderen Zeitungen/Magazinen) des Interviewers einschüchtern oder in eine Ecke drängen lassen.

Sie hat jedoch auch ein paar bedenkliche Dinge geantwortet, gerade was die Ausrichtung der Menschenrechtsgruppe anbelangt. Ich bin nicht mehr ganz einverstanden mit der Auslegung, was alles ein "Menschenrecht" ist. So werden immer mehr soziale oder gar kulturelle Präferenzen zu Menschenrechte, die dann eher einem linken Kanon der sozialen Gerechtigkeit gleichen.
Ein Recht auf Abtreibung gehört dazu, viel besser wäre es doch ein Recht gegen das Verbot von Abtreibung zu haben.

Trotz dieser kleinen Kritikpunkte muss ich der Frau vor allem bei ihren Ansichten zu Guantanamo und der Situation im Nahen Osten gratulieren. Sie stimmen etwa mit den meinigen überein!

Nein.

Warum nicht?
Er glaubt nicht, dass Menschenrechte oder Amnesty wichtig sind.

Nein, aber ich bin sicher, dass er nichts von Menschenrechten hält.

Warum sind Sie sich so sicher?
Schauen Sie sich seine Amtszeit an: Guantánamo, Abu Ghraib, Geheimgefängnisse, das Debakel im Irak.

Sehr gut geantwortet und sich nicht von der vorgeschobenen Verurteilung einschüchtern lassen!

Die Zwangsehe

Ich hasse es PI teilweise recht zu geben, aber bei Zwangsehen kann man einfach nicht anders entscheiden. Ich sehe durchaus das selbe Problem in Deutschland, eine steigende Zahl an Zwangsehen um die Leute aus der Heimat hier her zu holen, was nicht zu einem geringen Anteil auf unser Sozialsystem zurückzuführen ist (hey, laut Koran bekommt man ja nur einen Zehnt als Armer, in Deutschland locker mal das 3-fache).
Dennoch sehe ich weder bei der PI noch bei mir einen guten Lösungsansatz.
Was soll man denn auch dagegen tun? Wenn die Frauen nicht von alleine zur Polizei gehen, dann bleibt einem da nicht viel übrig. Es sei denn man beschneidet im großen Stil die Freiheitsrechte, was wiederum keinesfalls besser ist.
Und selbst wenn die Mädels dann zur Polizei gehen, wie schützt man sie vor Racheaktionen aus dem Umfeld der Familie? Etwa durch umsiedeln?

Man kann ja nicht einfach die ganze Familie wegsperren. Der Vater könnte selbst aus dem Knast noch seine Brüder oder Cousins informieren und die würden die Blutrache selbst noch gerne durchführen. Es gibt einfach kein probates Mittel gegen Zwangsehen, zumindest keines das sich ein Rechtsstaat leisten kann, ohne damit der Diktatur ein Stück näher zu kommen.

Ich bin jedoch gerne bereit mir Vorschläge anzuhören...
